Glaciers in Retreat

via Photo Challenge: Earth

One hundred years of change in Exit Glacier, Alaska. Year markers show where the glacier was at that time. A huge amount of retreat in 100 years. Whether you believe this is based on global warming or not, I think we can all agree it’s time for us to care more about how we treat our home.

  1. It’s really concerning. Let’s hope for our best that all the political leaders of all countries accept this fact and work diligently to save our home. Avoiding the grim facts will only worsen the damage.

  2. I don’t know much about the matter but I watched a documentary back in 2012 called “Chasing Ice”. This is just my opinion but after I watched it, I started believing in global warming.
and I also believe that when you see huge glaciers disappear in a fraction of the time it’s supposed to, then whether we believe in global warming or not is not the issue anymore. the main issue becomes whether we act now or it’ll be too late.

    1. Agreed. We need to act, and not just on global warming. We’re also filling our seas with plastic that will not biodegrade, and in many other ways not taking good care of our home. At the same time I will remain optimistic that we will rise to the challenge.
